This pendant is inspired by the arches of the Crown worn by Queen Camilla at her Coronation on the 6th May 2023. The original crown, made by Garrard for Queen Mary in 1911 for her Coronation as consort to King George V, weighed 1LB. 7 ounces, and included over 2000 diamonds. Queen Mary presented it to the Crown Collection in 1914 with the intention of it being the future Queen consort's crown. It had been the tradition since Plantagenet times for a Queen not to attend the coronation of her successor. Queen Mary broke with this tradition in 1937, probably to show solidarity after the abdication of King Edward VIII, and wore the crown as a circlet without arches. For the Coronation of Queen Camilla there were only 4 arches instead of the original 8 and whereas Queen Mary's crown was originally set with the Koh-i-Noor in the centre front cross, Cullinan III in the top cross, and Cullinan IV in the front of the band, the Camilla crown replaced the Koh-i-noor with the Cullinan V diamond.
The necklace and earrings are hand made, silver plated and set with Austrian crystals.
