For the coronation of Empress Elizabeth, consort of Czar Alexander I, a stunning new crown was made, which echoed the design of the Crown made for Catherine II. Made in St. Petersburg in 1801, it is in the traditional Russian form, set entirely with diamonds. It is from the Monde of this crown that the design of this set of jewellery has been inspired.
