The Hohenzollern crown was made by the Court Crown Jewellers for Kaiser William II as Emperor of Germany in 1888. In 1918 Emperor William II abdicated and he was permitted to retain the family jewels including this crown.

During the Second World War, it was hidden bricked up in a wall in the crypt of a church, but was found and fortunately returned to the Hohenzollern family.

It is currently kept at the family residence of the Schloss Hohenzollern.
